Are there any solo string instruments??

I am looking for solo violin or viola software instruments and I can't find them. Is it possible that there are no solo string instruments in Logic Studio?!...

If you know anything please write!!

Thank you!

Eriksimon Thank you!!

I am new to Logic Studio and it is not so clear for me how to load EXS24... Do I load it on a software instrument track? (I have tried to find this info in the manual, but I feel even more confused now.)
I have read that it works with sample instruments, so how can I get a solo violin sound from it?

Regards!

I have read all that, checked EXS24 and all other samplers and all I found was just 1 âš  solo violin, 1 solo cello and no solo viola - is that possible? I must be doing something wrong..
Can anyone help me find more solo strings in Logic Studio?
Do you know any website I could download additional instruments from?

Regards,

Natali

I'm a little surprised no one has chimed in on this one with more info about the EXS24 samples. Have you loaded the Orchestral Jam Pack that came with Logic Studio? If so, you should have a number of EXS instruments with solo strings. I don't use them, so I don't know how good they are, but I just looked them up and found quite a few.

Open an EXS24 instrument, and then go to the Library tab, or click on the little instrument selection window in the EXS24 player itself (it's above the cutoff knob under the Cut/Paste functions). From there, select Factory/09 Orchestra/09 Strings, and you should see a number of presets. In my folder I have Sampler instruments for Basses, Cellos, Full Strings, Violas, and Violins. Included on each of those instruments are presets for Legato, Pizzicato, Staccato, Tremolo and Trills.

If you don't see that folder, or don't see those presets, leave Logci, open a Finder window and follow this path: HD/Library/Application Support/Logic/Sampler Instruments/09 Orchestral/09 Strings. You should have about 40 presets in this folder, the same ones that should show up in Logic by doing the steps mentioned above.

If you don't have that folder on your HD or don't see presets there, then you're missing content. I'd suggest going into Logic's installer and reinstalling the Orchestral Jam Pack.

Hope this helps. Good Luck!

There also is Garritan GoFriller Cello... It's pretty nice..

Also Kirk Huntington's string library. He has them in EXS format.. He has several versions from $99 to $500. I bought the diamond library. It's nice, there are solo instruments in it. His libraries are more orchestral, they have a hall/reverb on them.. I like the Philharmonik because it is the driest of the sounds I have found so far. (that seems to fit in my pop arrangements better). If you're doing orchestral stuff,

The truth is, if you're really into it, you will want a few libraries. Cause each one has it's strengths and weaknesses. Of course we all can't afford to buy everything.

Hi Zue, those are all ensembles and or sections - I have found no solo (bowed) string instruments in the SO jam pack, only loops.

Huh? Thought we were talking about sampler instruments here, not loops. Who said anything about loops??

These may suffice for what the OP was asking. Thought they were worth a mention. They're as close to singles as I've found in the included content.

Nobody said anything about loops but me.
I meant to say that, surprisingly, the only solo string sounds in the Jam Pack SO are to be found in the loops, not in the Instruments, as they are all ensembles or sections.

I just didn't expect that, I thought there would at least be some specific solo strings in the JP SO Instruments too.
I personally use Kontakt 2 content for solo (bowed) violin, viola or cello, but I rarely use it.

regards, Erik.
