usbtb updated

The alternative usb communications program usbtb has been updated. The current release version is now 1.0.17. It can be downloaded from the developer's web site at http://buymelunch.org/printing/usbtb/ or from the Gutenprint download page http://sourceforge.net/project/showfiles.php?group_id=1537.

In addition to the improvements and bug fixes to usbtb, the installer will not hang in OS X 10.5 anymore.

I was able to print just fine in VPC and my G4, but now I have a iMac 20" using Paralles and cannot print. I've tried the usbtb, but can't find my printer: HP LaserJet 2300. I can't figure out what would be a compatible driver from their drop-down list. All I get is an Alert saying a new usbtb queue was not created because no compatible front-end CUPS driver could be found. Have been working on this printing problem for days and going nuts!

Just to be clear - a parallel printer has nothing to do with Parallels.

The LJ 2300 has a USB connector - usbtb should work, but that's just because it is an alternate USB driver.

Two drivers for the LJ 2300 are included in standard OS X 10.5 installs:
http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1370?viewlocale=en_US#hpdrivers
(the postscript choice - with the postscript version number in it like 4.0.0.80; and the Gutenprint choice, version 5.1.x)

Did you elect Not to install the drivers? Or, have you done the HP drivers update and maybe it messed up your OS X? It sounds like you have an OS X problem.
First thing to try - Reset Printing System:

Thanks Greg for your response. Good news is that I got my LaserJet 2300 printing this morning. All I did was reinstalled Bonjour again, and this time, checked the box "use this printed as default". Have no idea if this was the thing that made it work.

Yes, I installed all the dirvers and always keep my system and its peripherals current. I did not get usbtb to work because the directions evaporated when I pressed Download and I gave up finding them last last night - so that is just hanging out on my desktop. Thanks for the Gutenprint and reset info - I'll keep it on hand just in case.
