Call of Duty 4 SP quits at Startup, please help!

I installed CoD4 on my machine, uploaded the 1.7 patch, and tried to play the game. The Multiplayer works fine, prompts me for the serial number, and takes me to the main menu. However, when i try to boot up the Single Player it bounces up and down in the dock for a couple seconds and then goes straight to an error message. It is not the disk or any of the the third party software, because it works on other MBPs with the same configuration (I did a test install on another to make sure). The problem has to be on my machine.

Below is an extract of the error report for the Single Player error. Can anyone help me find what the cause may be?

I was searching the web for a solution to this problem... Eventually I ended up with this http://www.aspyr.com/product/info/63
It might not be a solution, but atleast it shows something of what is wrong. I have already found out that if the bottom item on the list (Video Card(Intel)) is marked red, meaning it is not meeting the standards, you must get your mac reset from a server, or atleast this is what worked for me.

I have a late 2008 Unibody 2.53GHz MBP and am having no problems playing COD 4 using the 9600 GT card; I have not downloaded the afore-mentioned update, but I am able to play COF 4 for up to 60 mimutes per session so far w/o any problems. Just to confirm, I am playing the MAC OS X version of COD 4, and am not using Boot Camp, Windows, etc.

Hi Guys,

I got same COD4 SP crash on my MacPro early 2008.

But one strange thing is that I got this working prior I upgrade to a bigger internal HD...

When I installed first COD4 on by original boot disk (WD 320Gb), everything worked fine.
Few weeks ago I bough Samsung Sinpoint F1 1To disk, and used SuperDuper to get all files from my old disk to the new one.
Everything were fine exept the COD4 SP that were crashing.

I tried a complete de-install/re-install (without forgetting preferences, and other plist files from aspyr/cod4). But this doesn't help.

I opened a ticket on aspyr support web, and I provided all data possible (crash dump, specs and so one). BUt still no answer yet 😟

Anyway, I have a way to play to COD4 SP... it is to boot on my old HD... weird.
I really would like to have COD4 working from my new HD, as I would like to used my old one for other stuff so...

I will keep you informed.

Best regards

Usually those crashes are caused by an "ungraceful" exit of the game (crash) or trying to switch applications (CMD+TAB) while in the game.
The fix procedure is to make a copy of the "Players" folder and reinstalling the game; then moving the "Players" folder back to the install folder.
That has worked for many, hope it helps.
See you in COD.

Hi guys,

I found the solution.

In fact the concern can be fixed by re-applying the last MacOSX update.
On my Mac I have the last 10.5.6 level of MacOSX, I just re-apply the MacOSX 10.5.6 update, and then COD4 SP starts without any crash.

This is weird but true.

I saw on some forum that few monthes ago a guys fixes the same issue by applying the 10.5.5 update (10.5.6 was not out at this time)

Cheers
