Zeppelin Speaker Static Noise.

Calling all Zeppelin users - Does anybody know what is causing the static problem you get whilst using a 2nd generation ipod touch with a Zeppelin?

I have noted that a good many iphone users are also reporting this issue as a really annoying problem. I have tried turning off the wifi connection but this has not reduced the level of noise being experienced. I do not get the same problem whilst using my 3rd generation ipod Nano and yes all my software both on the Zeppelin and the ipods is up to date.

Somebody with the same static problem has posted a YOUTUBE video of the noise so I am sure Bowers and Wilkins are looking into the problem with the intention of a fix. In the meantime I am interested what is causing it and whether anybody has found a fix?

I am also now going to contact Bowers & Wilkins and make my problem aware to them and I hope everybody else who is experiencing this noise will do so as well.

Thanks

Jon.

I have same problem on my Zeppelin and Ipod 2nd Gen. I have contacted certified B&W product repair center and get the answer from B&W which is that to add a condenser to the connector(inside Zeppelin) would be a solution. They said that lot of Zeppelin users have gone to the center and get the fix to be satisfied. I decided to send my Zeppelin to the center and got a call from center yesterday that my Zeppelin was all set and got to leave to my office.

When I get my Zeppelin back, I'll give the result back to you.

Thanks.

i too have this very annoying and embarresing problem, i love my music so i though id save and treat myself to the new ipod touch and a zeppelin, got it back today and what a mess, the noise is terrible.
works lovely with the wifes old ipod video, but the touch makes it crackle and hiss like an old wireless radio.

whats going to happen here, i dont think the company i bought it from will take it back and i dont like the idea of sending it to b&w for them to open it up.
and then return without maybe no solution?

im really upset with this.

Here's the noise:

I experience this intermittently with a 1st gen iPod Touch, with either Auxiliary or iPod input selected. Turning the Zeppelin off and on again removes the noise but affects the sound quality (muffled). The only way I've found to restore sound quality is to disconnect and reconnect the power cord. Interestingly this was never a problem with the original Zeppelin software/firmware, only occurring after I updated it, suggesting it could be fixed with an update. I've emailed Mike Sheehan from B&W USA

Same noise problems with the iPod Touch on the Zeppelin dock. I posted more details in a similar thread in the iphone section. I am returning this Zeppelin and will buy another one when the problem is fixed.

Hi Guys,

Yes, this is very disappointing. My experience hasn't been as dramatic as some users, nevertheless-

Iphone 3g- static sound to be heard during quieter moments when played at higher volumes.

Ipod Nano, 3rd Gen- very irritating clicking noise in background, again heard during quiet moments when played at higher volumes.

Ideas and suggestions appreciated.

Yes indeed, I've just purchased a Zeppelin and a new ipod touch.... Static and crackle!! the same with my iphone. Have tried ipod 4G, still a little noise but considerably quieter and when I aux the macbook, nada, its crystal clear. If it was a laptop dock I'd be less concerned.
The Zeppelin will be floating right back to B&W very shortly if its not fixed and the ipod touch will be aimed at Apple or ebay!!! B&W take note! What's the deal here? Can you fix it? This thing aint cheap. If I want to listen to background static and gurgle I'll turn the old transistor on in the bath.
