Cover flow album art problems

I have two cover flow/album art issues:

1. a) Some of my album art has disappeared in the cover flow (around 6 albums), replaced by a blank square. When I flip out of cover flow during playback, the album art shows up.
b) Some of my album art disappears when it is not highlighted - i.e. when it's among the albums next to the highlighted album in cover flow.

2. On some albums, the cover flow works fine (i.e. the album art is displayed properly) but when I flip into playback mode the album art is cut in half.

My ipod touch v. 2 is brand new. It has the most recent updates. I have deleted and re-uploaded my music. I have deleted and re-added the cover art at issue.

Can someone please help?

I am experiencing similar problems: I updated ipod touch to the latest release, updated my playlists with new songs, and all of sudden the artwork that used to be in the itouch are about 50% non existent, meaning gray colored blank squares are being displayed. They are there when browsing from itunes on my pc. I reset the ipod touch to factory setup twice, but same thing. Apparently the same albums fail to show its artwork (after two restores).

Anyone know what is wrong?

I had the same problem, not sure if it's the computer or the touch, but I have two Ipod Touch and 1 computer (for my touch) and one laptop (for my wife's touch), and both had problems on its each setup with it's own computer.

We found that if you click on your ipod device, the coverflow picture doesn't show up on the song/album there, but the same song on the computer (at the top part of the window under "Library > Music" does show it.

What I did was I clicked back on the touch and then the Music section. I highlighted all the songs without the cover and selected "Get info" under the right click menu. I double clicked on the album box (or go to "album artwork if it's only one song) and I selected the art on there.

This should fix it on the touch, and the library should have already been fixed. I did find that if you copy stuff back and forth (one computer with 2 ipods) or if you resync, you might have to redo the same process over again.

I never had this problem before the last upgrade, so hopefully it's just a new issue that is fixed in the next patch.

Hi jdm001,

Thanks very much for posting your experience and suggestions. I tried it and it works for MOST "no artwork in itouch" incidents. So in my itouch I just sync a couple of playlists. And for albums that have only 1 song in the playlist, your suggestion of doing a right click on the itouch song -> reattaching the artwork, works for the first synch. But when I re-add artwork for other songs, then that 1 song loses its artwork again...

Things work fine for those albums that have 3 or more songs in the itouch playlist. The 1 song is still causing problems. Actually, there was an album that had 2 songs in the playlist that did not work either (after re-attaching the artwork).

But is working for the most cases, so I am wanting to continue until I complete re-attaching the artwork. Problem is that my playlist has 3000 songs, and about 50% of the artwork are still blank... So I am hoping Apple comes with patch release before I complete the re-attaching process, which might take months!!

I also tried using the Mp3tag v2.42 that was suggested by Henrylo1021, but given that the sync with the itouch is from itunes, the re-attachment success rate is not as high with more random results (some re-attaches work, some don't, with no noticeable pattern...).

Anyways, if anyone knows of and other info, let us know!!

Regards,
Carl Asprilla

Same problem, I added albumart however when scrolling through coverflow, the albumart appears briefly to the side but when it gets full focus at the front view it changes to a black image. All previous artwork is fine, but this seems to happen when adding new albumart.

I have the 32gb itouch version 2.1.

Another issue is that in iTunes on the PC I cannot get the View options to work to show images or coverflow when connecting to the itouch. However these options are fine when connecting to the Library on the PC.

Any assistance would be appreciated.

Thanks

I had the same problem where either the album selected or next to it's cover would be blacked out when scrolling through the cover flow.

to fix the problem i pretty much removed all the music off my iphone, fixed the covers in itunes local library, and then manually copied it all back to the iphone
(auto sync is evil, and iphone being locked to 1 library is even more EVIL!)

but seems to have fixed the problem, I recommend anyone with the same prob, don't try and update the artwork on the iphone directly. do it in the Library and then re-sync (or manually manage and copy)

hope this helps.
