Since I received it in August, its battery life has been phenomenal
I had the screen brightness set at low, the 3G was only on when I needed it (as the WiFi), and always had a lot of memory available but in the past two-three weeks the battery life has been extremely poor only lasting for 5-6 hours
on a full battery charge (which now is a lot faster...within 2 hours it indicates it is fully charge )and it used to last me at least 16-20 hours on standby mode fully charged and in those 5-6 hours, it was 99% of the time it is on standby.

should I send in my iphone for service? I dont play many games, have a 16GB.

or what else can i do to improve the battery life? dont play much videos and i store my music on my ipod instead.

Hi Ad2009,

I just got my 3G Iphone about 2 months ago...... But I am only getting the 5 or 6 hours that you are on a full charge.... and I also have a 16 Gigabyte model. Double check that your "Blue Tooth" is turned off. Also, if you are not using the GPS function, turn off "Location Services". On top of that make sure the "Auto Brightness" is turned ON and that the brigtness slider is less than half way up.
And my Iphone charges just as quickly as yours does.......

Just from your description, it dosent sound like you have a defective battery.

* Minimize use of location services: Off unless when needed
* Fetch new data less frequently: Off
* Turn off push mail: Off
* Auto-check fewer email accounts: Accounts are off and on when needed.
* Minimize use of third-party applications: Dont use them often. None required internet connection to use.
* Turn off Wi-Fi: Only on when at home. (those 5-6 hours are not at home)
* Turn off Bluetooth: Never turned it on (it is not on)
* Use Airplane Mode in low- or no-coverage areas: Always in good area coverage
* Adjust brightness: Always dimmed down as low as it can.
* Turn off EQ: EQ was never on (it is not on)
* Turn off 3G: 3G is always off (occasionally used to get some directions or Youtube or Safari)

I am usually within that temp zone. It auto-locks in a minute.

what ****** me off is that my friends iPhone last longer than mine, and I manage mine better than he does and he uses his more frequently (the life-sucking perks.)
