HDD Scan Failed

I have the same problem most ppl r having with the iPod not being able to mount properly to sync with the computer, and ofcourse i've reset (in Disk Mode too) and done everything else that's physically possible, including plugging into all Firewire ports, including my built-in port, and switching PCI slots for my FireConnect 4300. i hadn't til recently discovered the Diagnostic Mode and i ran all the tests. all the tests in the 5 in 1 pass just fine, but the HDD Scan returned with a fail at 0x00000070. do i have any options besides replacing the HDD? i kno i've read somewhere, maybe even within these forums, that some guy found the bad sector on his iPod HDD and re-partitioned it to skip that sector and his problem being solved.
Although, sumthin peculiar occurred while running the Run-In test with the Diagnostic Mode. i kept a watch on the Run-In values it was at and when it got to 0x00000070 (my problem value) the resulting value displayed (which appears to be the checksum) was 0x0F000F99, the exact same value following every other single Run-In during the test.

If it's just a bad sector, doing a normal format (not using the updater) will remap the drive and avoid the bad sector. Then you can use the updater to restore and get the iPod working again.

If it's worse than that, you might be able to repartition it and get it to work at a reduced capacity. It's not a great solution though. Failing drives tend to fail larger over time.

I can't reformat it because I can't access it with the computer. Disk Management freeze when I attempt to access it and when I try to run the Dispart utility within the command prompt it won't initialize.
Another interesting thing occurred. I recently discovered the disk scan that shows the image of a disk platter with a magnifying glass so I ran it. When it completed it showed the image of the disk platter with the checkmark at the top left, meaning it found no problems. Yet, the HDD Scan within Diagnostic Mode failed at 0x00000070. So what is this supposed to mean? Does it seem to be a problem with the HDD or the iPod's Mainboard?

unfortunately you're failing to see that at this point i'm trying to figure out what part to replace. Apple does not deserve for me to buy a brand new, over-inflated priced iPod from them.

No, what I'm trying to tell you is that the only user replaceable component is the iPod itself. Whole.

Yes, you can in theory replace the hard drive with a different one (if you can buy one, they're not available for sale separately and so the only way to get one would be to take one out of another iPod), and you can replace the battery (these are available separately), but both of these would invalidate the warranty, of course.
