How can i get avi through Compressor?

AVI is a container for video. If you take the video into Quicktime to make an AVI your going to have to re-compress the video in order to make an AVI. There is a none setting in Quicktime for making an AVI. Why mess with the video/audio in Quicktime even tho there is a none setting. (Famous last words, "what happen to my video!?!")

Why not use MPEG-Streamclip to rewrap the video into an AVI.

Open the video in MPEG-Streamclip and do a SAVE AS an pick AVI.

Even if you don't use the above, you should get MPEG-Streamclip to be apart of your video tools.

There is a setting for making an AVI in compressor. Under the "Export Quicktime Components in the Inspector window.

I am fiddling with compressor right now doing the avi thing. I created a new setting using the little '+' button in my settings tab, then I changed the file format to 'Quicktime Export Components' then changed the 'Encoder Type' to 'AVI' then hit the options button and fiddling around with it...

If you have Compressor, then chances are you also have Quicktime Pro - why not just open the movie in QuickTime and 'Export...' and select 'Movie to AVI'.
