Maximum canvas size smaller after update to 3.0.2 or Mac Pro problem?

I created (on the same computer) just before the summer some big screen animations in double HD.
The animation are not very complicated, but of high resolution: 3552 * 1080 px

After the last update I can't open the files anymore on my Mac Pro 8-core 2,8 gHZ, 6 G RAM, 256 VIDEORAM!
But I still can open them on my Macbook Pro 2-core 2,33 Ghz, 4 Gb RAM, 256 video VRAM.

I get the message: This project is too large to render with these setting. Your hardware cannot support a project this size. Try reducing the resolution of the project.

How is this possible? What can I do to open them om my MAC Pro?

Thanks in advance,
Searchie

I tried fixed resolution, no change...

If I open a new project my maximum canvas size is: 2896 * 1080

Is it possible my two 24" monitors are the problem????
