Bookmark in the middle of a page?

It's curious, but if you click on a link to a new page, then "go back" it takes you to the point you left off...

I thought there might be some sort of trick to keep the scroll amount; perhaps a Javascript hack?

How about something typed into the address bar:

javascript:alert(document.scrollAmount);

Then later:

javascript:document.scrollAmount=the_number;

OR something like the above?

Into the address bar, type:

javascript:alert(window.pageYOffset)

This pops up a window with the current scroll amount.

Then, to go back, type:

javascript:window.scrollTo(0,the_number);

Works fine. Glad I thought of it. Might make a nice add-on to Safari (way beyond my meager talents, though).

You can type the "get" into the address bar, then drag the icon down into the bookmarks bar.

When you click on it, you get the current scroll amount.
