Entourage won't connect to Exchange

Hi,

I'm posting this in the Apple discussions because I'm hoping there's some guru out here who is excellent with Entourage (I know... I hate Entourage as well, but unfortunately we support it) We have a problem in which some of our Entourage users cannot connect to the Exchange servers any more. Here's the scenario... everything was chugging along just fine for months, and Sunday night (all of a sudden) we started seeing our CAS go offline. We would bring them back up, but a short time later, they would go down again. It turns out that it was related to this issue: (hotfix kb956319)

Consider the following scenario:
• You try to send a message that is larger than 48 kilobytes (KB) by using Entourage.
• The message is sent through the Client Access server (CAS) role of Exchange Server 2007.
• Your mailbox is located on the mailbox server role of a Windows Server 2008-based computer that is running Exchange Server 2007. In this scenario, the W3wp.exe process crashes on the CAS server. Additionally, the following event is logged in the Application log:

Log Name: Application
Source: Application Error
Event ID: 1000
Task Category: (100)
Level: Error
Keywords: Classic
Description: Faulting application w3wp.exe, version 7.0.6001.18000, time stamp 0x47919ed8, faulting module exprox.dll, version 8.1.240.5, time stamp 0x47427a9a, exception code 0xc0000005, fault offset 0x0000000000068511, process id 0x%9, application start time 0x%10. Microsoft Exchange Server 2007 Service Pack 1, when used with: Microsoft Exchange Server 2007 Enterprise Edition Microsoft Exchange Server 2007 Standard Edition

We applied that hotfix to our CAS, but some Entrourage users are still unable to connect, even after uninstalling/reinstalling Office. What happens is that the Exchange account in Entourage will just show as "not connected." If you send a message to yourself in Entourage, you get the error -39 "end of file has been reached" error (which I thought referred to a corrupt database on the client). For most of our Entourage users, deleting the Exchange account from Entourage and adding it back solved the problem. For others, however, that still doesn't resolve it. I'm running out of things to try here. Like I say, even if we uninstall Office and reinstall it, we get the same error. And we can connect to that same users Exchange mailbox on another Mac just fine (using Entourage). So it doesn't appear to be a mailbox issue on the server, rather something that the Mac is holding on to, even after uninstalling Office.

The way our Entrouage users connect is through WebDav, since they connect to Exchange over the Internet.

Does anybody have any idea what file(s) on the Mac could possibly be storing some kind of cached information that we can delete to get around this issue?

Thanks for your help!

Mike
