Set Up POP Gmail On iPhone?

Hi,

I have a friend that has a Gmail account that she downloads her e-mail from, via POP, to Mail 3.5 on her Mac.

She'd really like to access that same Gmail e-mail account on her iPhone, using the built-in Mail app from Apple.

Can this be done, without messing up or interfering with Mail 3.5 on her Mac? What settings should she use on her iPhone?

Two options - 1) set up both Mac and iPhone using IMAP, so mail stays on the server and the inbox is 'shared' on both Mac and iphone. 2) leave Mac as POP and set up iPhone as IMAP, so mail can be accessed and replied to, etc., on the iPhone then downloaded to the Mac (in that case, mail read on the iPhone will show as unread on the Mac).

To set up IMAP access to gmail on the iPhone, just add the account in Settings and tap gmail. It's possible to set up POP on the phone, but accessing an account via POP from two mail clients is a recipe for trouble.
