Text disappears when exported to PDF

I'm creating a small business newsletter (for the first time on Pages - before I used MS Publisher). My problem is that when I export the completed document to a pdf, the text in a couple of text boxes doesn't show up in the pdf. I have checked the text color (black) in the Pages doc, and the background is simply white. Any advice please?

MacBook 2.4ghz, Mac OS X (10.5.5)

I never got this behaviour.

May you compact a sample document in a zip archive, attach this archive to a mail and send it to my mailbox?

I got it … and here everything is correctly displayed when I print it in a PDF.

Of course, if you send it to PC users, they will get odd results because you are using shadows which are not compatible with these engines.

OK, thanks for your time and help anyway. I still can't see the text when I print the same file to a pdf on my own MacBook, as well as on a PC. I have no idea what to do with it (other than quit using Pages and go back to MS Publisher).

So your type on the display is the same in Apple Preview on Mac OS X and Adobe Reader on Microsoft Windows, but your type on the printer is not the same from Apple Preview on Mac OS X and Adobe Reader on Microsoft Windows?

If it's a printing problem and not a display problem, you might try setting Adobe Reader to "Print as Image". With this setting the PDF is RIP'ed to a colour picture element pattern by Acrobat Reader before the data is downloaded through the system to the printer.

This should sort glyph substitution problems, transparency problems and more in advance. I hope -:).

Yes, thanks, I still have not resolved the problem. Working on it right now. I might change the font and see if that helps.

I believe the trouble has been solved, in a way. For some reason, Adobe Reader v.9.0.0 cannot see/display some of the text. I don't know why; I used the same font throughout the document, and it showed up in other places. For my own purposes, I am using Mac Preview as my default viewer for pdf files now. Hopefully it won't be a problem for others.

I have this exact problem. Exporting as a PDF, when I open Pages documents in Acrobat, the text disappears, when I open same document in Preview, everything is completely fine. This happens on multiple computers with different versions of acrobat.
