Bluetooth in Menubar

Question

Bluetooth in Menubar

No matter how many times I remove the Bluetooth icon from the menubar or change preferences it keeps reappearing after reboots, even awakening from sleep.

Any ideas??

You probably have Bluetooth configured to run at start up.

To change this open up the Bluetooth preferences. In the bottom right hand corn there is an Advanced settings tab. If you click on that there will be options such as "Open Bluetooth at Startup when No Devices Present." If you uncheck that it should disappear for good.

The reason to have that checked is that in case the computer doesn't recognize my mouse/keyboard blootooth setup assistant wakes up and finds them...

Should this happen, it would be fairly difficult to get the thing working otherwise as I have no usb keyboard or mouse...

What I do have is the "Show bluetooth status in menubar" checked. So I uncheck it. Then it is checked again next time I restart/unsleep.

Well even if you uncheck the "show bluetooth in menu bar" unchecked and leave "start bluetooth on startup" checked it will just reopen in the menu bar. Did you try unchecking that option and seeing how it responds?

bought a wired mouse and keyboard so this would stop happening.
