Riff Wav files conversion

You shouldn't have any problems with .wav files on a mac they can be read just fine.

If you select this file and press the Apple Key and the I key at the same time what info does it bring up ?

What programme is your friend using and what is he saving the file as ?

Personally I've not heard of a "riff" file and I've been doing this a while. Obviously I'm familiar with the use of the "riff" to describe a musical phrase, just not as a file type.

RIFF = Resource Interchange File Format
RIFFS are actually compressed Audio files (like mp3s) with a WAV track header
Have you tried Compressor which comes with Logic studio to convert the RIFF wavs to normal wavs? I haven't used RIFFS but Compressor converts almost anything into everything so give it a try.
