making a banner with photos

I need to make a banner for a website using photos from iPhoto. What would be the easiest way to do it ?
Is iWeb good for that ? Aperture ?
thanks!

Actually -- I'm a Major now.

But add a photo from your MEDIA button onto the page. Scale it so it fills the page width wise.

Then, click the MASK tool (bottom) drag the mask around until you get it to the size you want.

Drag the photo to frame it and then click outside the mask.

You can also color correct it and then just add text box overtop of it.

Good luck,

I'd be happy to!! I've got a 1st gen B rev, a first gen shuffle (white stick) a G5 video pods, a long thin nano 1 short fat nano a first gen touch and an iPhone

Not all of them are in top working order!! I do think I can do away with the stubby nano if we ever cross paths.

I do have a website, but I've seen MUCH better!!!

Mine is just a simple family site with lots of templates used.

What IS cool about iWeb is how (with .mac) you can set up things to come into iPhoto or iTunes. Like, if you went to a photo page of mine and hit subscribe... you'd get iPhoto to open up and create a folder in the cloud with these photos. When I update this page, your iPhoto gets updated too.

Or, I have some video pages of my boys. When you subscribe to THEM they show up in iTunes as podcasts and get updated everytime I update a movie. Great for grandma who wants to keep up on her grandkids.

so... again... I've seen MUCH better uses of iWeb, mine is WAY too busy:

Here's a photo page where I did the banner technique:

One of the movie pages:

So... that gives you an idea. Google for iWeb samples or something and you'll see many many more. I come across pages that you KNOW were done with iWeb but have different looks than the templates. I just don't have time to 'develop' my own pages. That's why I love iWeb.

Good luck to ya,

thanks Alancito, picnik is really very very cool!
No need for Photoshop anymore. BUT, it's very slow. Probably because thousands of other people using it. It's still much faster then loading Photoshop Elements, which takes at least 2 minutes.

MajorMench, you are a real MajorMench....and a conductor..movie director/producer.
I used to be a simple leutenant in IDF.

Bannerzest will allow you to create animated banners but is relatively expensive if you don't have a lot of use for it - especially the Pro version.....

You can, of course, use the demo to create a multi image banner with effects. This method is not fair to the designer so I won't go into details!

Here's a fairly versatile free banner maker...

Normally you would copy the code and paste it into a snippet box so that it is clickable. There are other ways of achieving this without adding the code to your site - whether you want to use it as a hyperlink or not.

Do you mean this sort of thing?

The basic blocks are created in Keynote and then joined together on a separate slide.

They are also displayed here as a sort of a movie!

In the first example you can make each individual photo a hyperlink by covering it with a text box and selecting that as a link.
