There is not enough memory to perform the operation (Error #17524)

Hello everyone,

I'm having some problems with my iMac. Whenever I try to open After Effects CS3 or try to unzip a large file of about 6GB I get this message: "There is not enough memory to perform the operation (Error #17524)". Since I have 4GB of RAM and no other programs are running, I believe this can't be right.

Any ideas? I really need to fix this fast.. 🙂

Check After Effects Preferences/Memory and Cache to make sure the Maximum RAM cache size is less than 100%. The default is 60%. I would not set it any more than 75%. http://ftp.georgetek.com/George/After_Effects.png

As far as the Archive(zip) Utility is concerned I've never tried unzipping a file that large. It's possible that the Archive Utility is limited to a certain sized file. Try using a third party unarchive/unzip utility:
