transcribing iPod voice memos

I am using my iPod (with iTalk) to record interviews for my research. The recording went fine, reasonable sound quality, etc. However, I need to transcribe the interviews; I downloaded Express Scribe (audio playback control software) to allow me to listen to the interviews and transcribe to MS Word. However, the program won't allow me to load the iTunes files (WAV) of the voice memos. I tried converting to mp3, but it still won't let me load the files. Is this because of the 8khtz limitation? Is there any software out there I can use to transcripbe this material?

Thanks, everyone. This is a problematic issue -- Apple advertises the iPod as being uasable as a voice recorder, but then offers no way to transcibe the material once it's recorded. So meanwhile, I have 16 hours of interviews, can't find a way to transcribe them, and the clock is ticking on the deadline for submitting my analysis. Help, please...

I have used some version of LAME that helps me to convert wav to MP3. http://winlame.sourceforge.net/ it works fine.

The problem for me was that I had difficult to get recordings from iPod to the computer to do the transcriptions.

http://www.transana.org/ have i only tested little of. Will probably work for you with MP3 files.

Transana is free and let you transcribe and do analysis at the same time.
