When trying to download a PDF file on line, I am getting a PHP file in the download folder. I can't open the PHP file. Can somebody tell me what a PHP file is and how I can read it?
My problem is the opposite. I am somehow opening files as PHP when I want PDF files. Perhaps I somehow inadvertently activated PHP. If so, how do I reverse the damage?
Mac OS X 10.5 (Leopard) comes with both Apache 2.2.6 and PHP 5.2.4 preinstalled, but they're not enabled by default. The following instructions should help you get up and running.
Does it occur from all sites which contain pdfs? or one in particular ?
Have you tried another browser?
It sounds like its a mistake on the server that is providing the PDF rather than you.
PHP is a server side scripting language, apache is a webserver. (just to clear up another post). PHP is a language you can read in a text editor (prior to it being parsed by the server at which point it outputs what you tell it (normally HTML (so your browser can read it) or some other item such as a JPG,TIFF,GIF (images) or in this case a PDF ).
Downloading a php file will generally contain an error if you load it up in a text editor.
Click on a PDF file. Go to Get Info in Finder, and set to Open with Adobe Reader (for example) and under 'Use this application to open all documents like this' click Change All.
