Shuffle not shuffling...

Ok, I know I am doing something wrong but I can't figure out what it is.

I just bought a new Shuffle. I have iTunes setup to autofill the Shuffle from a specific playlist. I have "Choose items randomly" and "Replace all items when Autofilling" checked.

I sync the Shuffle then disconnect it from its dock. I slide the button (on the Shuffle) to the "shuffle" position and press play. No matter what I do the songs are always played back in the same order.

Please tell me what stupid mistake I'm making.

Donno why this might make the difference, but try selecting the Name or Artist column when you view the list of tunes in iTunes. Which column is already selected when you connect the shuffle?

It sounds like you're not switching your shuffle off when you connect it to load and charge it... try switching it to OFF, set the mode switch to shuffle (if not already in that position) and then turning it back ON and Play. IF the song order still seems the same, press Pause and then press the Play button very quickly 3 times. That should reset the the randomizer and begin at the top of the newly randomized list.
