MacBook Pro Display has Large Pixel Blocks and Lines, Freezes Screen

I have MacBook Pro that has started showing large, blocks of pixels that at times cover the entire screen, and sometimes only cover certain areas, but it has gotten to the point that I can't use the computer at all. It happens sometime at startup and sometimes while in use. I am traveling and haven't had time to go the Apple Store for help.

Here are two photos of the issue:

Any help would be greatly appreciated. I'm a bit freaked out.

Yikes!

Does this also happen on an external display? If so, you could have a graphics chip problem. If it only happens on your internal display, it would indicate a problem with the display.

If you have your Apple Hardware test with you, you could always run it and see if anything shows up.

I'm inclined to think that this is a hardware problem of some sort. If you are under warranty, call Apple and get a case number. You will probably need to send it in for repair or have it examined at an Apple Store.

Good luck!
