recover deleted mail folders?

By accident, of course, I just deleted two folders from iMail. I haven't done anything yet--haven't closed the program--is there a way to recover these folders? The folders don't appear in the Library and there's nothing in my trash either. Any suggestions? Thanks for any help.

There is no iMail; you're using Mail. Where were these folder located: in the Mail program, or in the hard drive directory?

If they were in the Mail program, you may be able to recover them by using the Undo command in the Edit menu. If they were on your hard drive, then they would be in the Trash and you would simply put them back where they were originally.

hi, the same thing has happened to me - trying to clean up my folders in the Mail program, I deleted my entire 6 years of organized WORK email. Quoting: " Re: recover deleted mail folders

Then you would simply have to recreate those folders or mailboxes; if there were anything in the ones you deleted, you cannot recover those."

COULD THESE MESSAGES BE RECOVERED BY a DISK RECOVERY program at a Mac Store that is used to recovering data? This information is mind-bogglingly important, so I'm willing to pay anything to retrieve it.
thanks, moira

Hi moira_smiley, and a warm welcome to the forums! 🙂

Possibly, but you must quit using the Computer immediately.

Either boot this one in Tatget mode...

And recovering from another Mac, or botting this Mac from another HDD, then using Data Rescue II...

http://www.prosofteng.com/products/data_rescue.php

(Has a Free Demo to see if it could or not, but you'll need another drive to recover to).

Or professional Data Recovery Services.

BUT, every second you use that Mac the chances will be slimmer.
