Im having the same problem. I just replaced my batteries for my Bluetooth Apple Keyboard and it wont turn on at all. I bought it in Sept 2007 and it has worked perfectly but it wont even turn on meanwhile, my mighty mouse is working fine via bluetooth. I've replaced the batteries numerous times and am sure that is not the problem. Please help

I'm having same exact problem, mouse works just ducky, bought keyboard & mouse in 2007 too. Did you find solution?

Wow! Same here. Just started this morning.

I got the KB & mouse as gifts last Christmas. Mouse still works fine, but KB won't power up, even with new batts.

Me too - I replaced the batteries for my Bluetooth Apple Keyboard and now it won't turn on - no little green light. I've only had it a little over a year and it has always worked fine before and I've changed the batteries a couple of times. My wireless mouse works fine as well but this seems to be a power issue with the keyboard rather than a blue tooth problem.

Ummm...my keyboard is working now. The green lite doesn't stay on, but it works nevertheless.

So I ain't complainin'. I'll post again if it quits. (Don't know what got it working again, but it's been fine for the last day.)

My wireless (bluetooth) keyboard has stopped working. I have changed the batteries several times over the 11 months since I bought it along with similarly powered mighty mouse. On this occasion as I removed the spent batteries a small, circular ring of plastic molding appeared and fell to the floor. I therefore had no way of knowing which way up it should be when replaced. It appeared to be made to fit over the postive end of the first battery to be reinserted. I reinserted the ring on the first of the three new batteries and added the following two, closed the screw fitting and attempted to reconnect to the mac mini. No light appeared to indicate power on and the keyboard was not visible to the mac. I attempted to extract the ring from the battery compartment but it appears to have become lodged in its current position. Help would be appreciated.

Same here - I just changed batteries last week when 'Low Battery' warning arose. Have used it since with no issue, including earlier today, but now it will not power up at all. I have tried several pairs of new batteries, and best I get is a momentary green power light that quickly goes away.

How do diagnose this? Reset it? Other advice?

Nevermind - third battery was 'stuck' in there, so only replaced two at a time. Just got the third one out and replaced, and all is fine.

I've got a bluetooth apple keyboard (the Dutch alu small version).
Using rechargeable batteries I sometimes have to replace them.
When I do replace the batt. the keyboard won't work, no green led comes up.
also tried the caps-lock to check, but this also won't light-up.
So, Thinking it was the batteries, tried some new ones, and they work.
At this time I thought also the problems would be the batteries, but it wasn't.

I've change the batteries a few times, and sometimes the keyboard worked, and sometime it didn't. Until a few days after warranty (23-dec-08) it stopt working.
I've tried changing batteries over and over again.
I've checked the voltage of the batteries, and they where fine.
The store told me, no warranty, buy a new one. So first I wan't to know what the problem is, so I disassembled the keyboard and made a few pictures so you would also know how to.
The problem is: The power of the batteries never reaches the circuit-board.
I can disassemble a few things, but I can't get out the main-problem part.
I think it's the springy thing in the batterie compartment, which does not give through the + voltage, the - was okay (checked with resistanse measuring).

I've heard a lot of problems with this keyboard..... What should I do next?
The keyboard costed 80,- Euro's... I would like to change it for an usb version as I don't trust the bluetooth's anymore because of this (I found) mechanical error in design.

An update about the broken keyboard.
I called the Dutch Aple store helpdesk phone number. The person was very friendly, asked me about some products that I owned and tried to solve it via the normal procedures and asked for an exeption.
But like normal procedures: The keyboard was 15 months young, so 3 month over warranty 😟
They did not took the exeption for a keyboard of 80,- euros.
I told them I was happy with a cabled keyboard (half cheaper for apple, and because I don't trust the bluetooth inside wiring).
It would cost apple almost nothing for a wired keyboard.
In a few years I bought a mac-pro, and 2 macbooks, I thought they would help me out over a few euro's.

Next step:
The friendly person tried to call Customer Relations Ireland, but they were close at the moment I'll have to call back tomorrow.

Backup step:
Cut open the alu part which blocks my way of repairing the keyboard.
Will take some time, but the fix will cost a few drops of soldering stuff.

At least this approach boosts the trust in online shopping
via the apple store I must say. Now, let's hope they can help me out.

I faced the same problem: I disassembled the keyboard and measurement confirmed: no + voltage for the circuit-board. Further testing made clear that no proper contact of the head of the first battery can be the only reason.

I tried different items to put in ahead of the first battery. Finally a small piece of steel wool was best to guarantee the electricity finds it´s way into my keyboard (you won´t face any problem in closing the battery-case).

If you eventually have steel wool for household cleaning I would recommend it most. According to what I found out you need no further disassembly of your keyboard (I also wouldn´t know how to do that).

Anyone else found a workaround on this. Is there a way to do a hardreset on the keyboard?

are you talking about the "old style keyboard" (white, with numeric keypad, 4 AA batteries), or the "new style" (aluminium, no numeric keypad)? My white wireless keyboard stopped working today and i can't get the system to recognize it. I tried everything! (Various sets of batteries, etc.) I removed bluetooth preferences and had to re-pair my wireless mouse, but the computer still won't see the keyboard. I think Apple has a problem at their hands, but it looks like they want to keep a low profile!

A latest update about the alu bluetooth keyboard:
Apple called me back the next monday, and with very good news.
They replaced my keyboard.
As I've told them, I don't want a bluetooth anymore, I received a cabled one.
This service from Apple does make a difference between all the webshops.
I'm happy again.
