Samsung SyncMaster T220HD DisplayPort to DVI connection problem

I have a Samsumg SyncMaster T220HD monitor.
I recently bought a new MacBookPro with the following characteristics:
Model Name: MacBook Pro
Model Identifier: MacBookPro5,1
Processor Name: Intel Core 2 Duo
Processor Speed: 2.8 GHz
Number Of Processors: 1
Total Number Of Cores: 2
L2 Cache: 6 MB
Memory: 4 GB
Boot ROM Version: MBP51.0073.B02

Here is the link to my monitors specs:
http://www.samsung.com/us/consumer/detail/detail.do?group=computersperipherals&t ype=monitors&subtype=lcd&model_cd=LS22TDNSUV/ZA

When I connect my mac to the monitor with a DVI-D cable the monitor's screen starts flickering and I see blinked pink pixels everywhere.
I tried with and old Mac Book Pro and the monitor works just fine.
I think that the display port doesn't supprt my resolution (1680x1050) ; in fact if I decrease the resolution to something like 1200x900 the problem disappears.

I also brought my mac to the apple support center here in Italy, but the problem persists with every new Mac Book Pro they tried.

Do I have to wait for e patch? What can I do? this problem is very tiresome!

Thanks.

Found a Work around for now:
I did some testing on the mini displayport VGA adapter.
Observation: when hooking up the T22HD using VGA adaptor to Macbook5.1 the computer recognized the monitor in monitor preferences an indication of bidirectional communication, the T220HD displayed "Week or no signal"

Test:
1) I use a VGA cable of Higher quality. No Change
2) I tested a MacBook Pro 17' DVI to VGA and a MacBook with Mini DVI to VGA adapter Both worked fine with T22HD.
3) I instaled a powered ExtronVGA Splitter in into the mini Display adapter with the MaBook5.1 then took a VGA cable from splitter to T220HD. Image came on to the T220HD imideitly.

Summation:
Signal strength is lower on the Macbook5.1 then others.
I will be testing the DVI with a splitter or sinal boster of some kind.

I wonder if apple can release an update to boost voltage or signal to the port.

I have similar problem with my Samsung SyncMaster 225MS and the new Mac Mini.

I plug the DVI cable to my syncmaster through the mini-DVI to DVI adapter which is included in my mini. The screen looks fine in 1680 x 1050 mode, BUT, the screen will flash intermittently, sometimes the whole screen flash, sometimes part of the screen flash (usually at the bottom).

I tried...
1. Set the display resolution to 1280 x 1024 --> NO FLASH
2. Set the display resolution to > (1280 x 1024) --> FLASH INTERMITTENTLY
3. Connect the mini to my Benq 21" 4:3 monitor --> NO FLASH

What's going on?!! How come my previous IBM R40 can output 1680 x 1050 without any problem, which was actually a 6 year-old product!!

I just bought this TV and I'm also having problems. I have the previous generation Mac Pro with one of the new ATI Radeon HD 4870 graphics cards, I also still have the standard graphics card that came with it (ATI 2600XT).

Ok here's what works and what doesnt work:

- ATI Radeon HD 2600XT DVI (DualLink Cable) to DVI input On TV - Works Fine
- ATI Radeon HD 4870 DVI (DualLink Cable) to DVI input On TV - DOES NOT WORK!
- ATI Radeon HD 4870 DVI (DVI to VGA adaptor plugged into graphics card) to VGA input On TV - WORKS!

I also tested the 4870 on an old monitor with a DVI-D to DVI-D and it worked! This is frustrating because I am working with a very high spec Mac Pro and Graphics card but I have to compromise with a DVI to VGA Adaptor.

I saw a software update on the TV menu but couldn't find anything on the Samsung website
