iPod Touch error (2005)

My iPod won't turn on. When I connect it to the computer, Vista's USB sound is heard, iTunes pops up, and says it's waiting for the iPod for about a second or so and then says an iPod has been detected but cannot be properly identified. It says there's an unknown error (2005). Messing around with the home and sleep buttons have not helped me so far. Please help!

Also, what I think might help is if anyone knows how to load firmware onto the iPod without iTunes. Thanks!

Whilst your "unknown" error message is not specifically listed the article does say other error numbers may appear.

I have the same problem while I was doing the restore on my Mac Pro. I have a go with my iMac, and managed to do the restore without any error.

I believe that it might caused by the corrupted apples software during the download
