10.5.5 problem with Extern HD ?

Hi guys,

I am experiencing some strange problem recently, since after upgrading to 10.5.5, which I think is relating to my eSATA external HD ( via ExpressCard ). Normally the disk will mount correct and I can access the disk with no problem, but now, sometime it just hang and does nothing and always give me the spinning color wheel. There is no pattern to when this will occur.

Looking at the /var/log/system.log, I get a lot of these ...

kernel[0]: SCSIPressurePathManager: new active path available, checking, loops = 0

I've been searching for the web for a month now and still can't find out what this mean. I am hopping that someone more knowledgeable than me can help me work out this issue.

Note that I've also got TechTool from by my Apple Extend Warranty and it turns out nothing given that it doesn't know anything about External HD. I've also taken the External HD apart and plugging this into my Dad's desktop PC, just to run a surface scan and SMART check on it. It passed every tests, so it can't be a HD problem. I've never had this problem before 10.5.5, can this be the case ?

Thanks

MacBook Pro, Mac OS X (10.5.5), Intel
