iMovie error code = -2009; unable to prepare project for publishing
I am very new to macs. I am trying to make a DVD of my edited movies. iDVD said that I could not publish my movies because they were not prepared to share. I was instructed to go to Share>MediaBrowser>Publish. However, once I chose the size of the project to share and pressed Publish, I received an error code that says "unable to prepare project for publishing, error code = -2009".
Can someone please help me as I bought this mac so I could do movie editing and then make a DVD to give to my family. Thanks!

Must confess that this is a new one to me. According to the look-up:
My best guess would be that either the source file contains a track that iMovie '08 cannot process, the project pointers point to a valid track but to a frame reference not contained in the track, or that the project pointers point to a non-existent track within the source clip. (Guesses only here.)
I apologize sbpetdr but I don't have the answer but am having the exact same problem. If anyone has suggestions please send them as I am in exactly the same situation as sbpetdr... Same code, same new to Apple, same bought to create DVD's for family. However, my initial guess is not a compatibility issue as I brought in VHS tapes with a Pinnacle Video Capture for Mac device into an iMovie event - then created a project out of that and now that I want to send (publish) through Media Browser so that I can open it in iDVD it gives the same error of -2009... *****, considering this was the justification to my wife to buy a top of the line iMac - 3.06GHZ, 4GB Ram, 24 inch monitor - and now I can't do it... So help for me and sbpetdr would be greatly appreciated - anybody from Apple reading this??? Respond before my wife makes me go back to PC's, give up my iPod for a Zune, and swears loyalty forever to Microsoft... 😟
sbpetdr - I've spent about 30 hours working on this over the past few days - I think I have a solution potentially; at least it seems to be working for me. I had imported all my VHS tapes into 1 large event, this seems to have given me several problems that seem to have been corrected by splitting this event into several smaller events. I made the size of each smaller event a maximum of 2 hours of video - again, this corrected several problems I was having including eliminated the -2009 error when publishing the project. If this is not your issue then sorry, if it is I hope it helps you...
