iPhone Update 2.2 Drastically Reduces Battery Life

I just updated my 3G iPhone to software version 2.2. After making no other changes to the phone, the battery life has been reduced to only 4 hours (with no talk time and wifi still turned off). After plugging in the charger, it still took 30 minutes before the red battery/lightning bolt symbol disappeared and the phone restarted. What's wrong with 2.2(5G77) and when will a new update resolve the problem?

Just to bring some info to all of you out there who have experience battery life reduction since 2.2, I found this page and its links about battery life on the apple site.
http://www.apple.com/batteries/ (check iphone)
I will (I guess easily) run the battery completely off and make a full recharge as indicated. If it improve things I will report it here.

My battery life has also dramatically reduced since upgrading to 2.2

Today I had only 3 hours and 38 minutes usage out of it before it died on me! I used to get about 6 - 8 hours of usage out o fit.

My problem is that I bought the phone for GPS, Push mail and Wifi ... I don't want to have to turn that off to get the same battery life as a normal phone would with all those features on?

Apple needs to resolve this ASAP. Regardless of whether it affects 1% or more (MobileME stats here), this needs to be addressed as, in my opinion, 3.5 hours of usage renders the phone useless and I will then be returning it for a refund.

No, I use MobileMe and it only works with legit version of the iphone software... I believe....
Anyway, I don't see the point of Jailbrake versions when the true power of the iphone is in its great interconnection, over-the-air, via MobileME with my other Macs and PCs. Well at least it does it for me.
Well that is when the battery last as long as it did under 2.1....

This is /exactly/ what happened to me. With 2.1, I would get 36 hours between recharges. Now, I get about 9 hours. In fact, I had it plugged in this morning until 8:30A and I had to plug it in 4:30P (at 10% remaining charge).

My usage has not changed.

Someone theorized that the network switching algorithm has changed and that it's working harder to find the right network.

I do use 3G and fetch mail from Gmail and Home once per hour... the same with 2.1.

Cheers.

DRAIN YOUR BATTERY ONCE A MONTH AND WHEN YOU UPGRADE SOFTWARE

The reason every body has problems is they have the push mail on. If you are lucky the max you will get is 2.5 hrs.

************** You have to drain the iphone battery dead so the battery counter resets to 0000 ***********

Do this once a month and you wouldn't have any problems. BTW make sure your brightness is set half way or so. You get 4.5-5 hrs use.
