Error 8008

I got this error when I bought a movie... I wrote to itunes "report a problem" which said it would email me the next day, and never got any response. I paid for the movie, and it would begin to download from 3 to 4, and then it would stop and say error 8008. Every time I opened my itunes or went to check for purchases, it would begin to Re-download, and then have the same error. It kept automatically trying to download half the time I bought other stuff even though it never worked.

Also, I've had the problem where I bought something, and left my computer alone, and later it had never downloaded. So I checked for purchases, and it wouldn't download. It was in my purchase history, so again, I reported the problem, then bought the same thing again.

+I never got any refunds.+

Mac OS X Version 10.3.9, G5, Mac OS X (10.3.x), Why can't I purchase anymore?

I can download music, but videos cause the same error 8008. Try closing and reopening iTunes, restart your computer, hop on one foot while turning clockwise 3 times, then try your download again. Then try it again and again and again. I've gotten things to finally download, but I'm not sure which of those instructions was the one that made it work. I've still got one video that refuses to download, so I'll have to think of some more incantations and time wasters hoping the problem fixes itself.

Apple support gave me similarly weird help, by the way. I wish you luck with your downloading.

I had this problem (Error -8008) with 2 out of 12 episodes of the Sopranos Season 6 Pt. 1. The worst part is that one of the corrupted files is the first episode! The other was the 7th. All of the other episodes in the season downloaded fine, and everything else that I have purchased from the iTunes Store has downloaded successfully (music, other TV shows, movies, iPhone apps), before and after the error on these episodes.

I did receive a credit after going through the "Report a Problem" process - and I hope maybe you (ruinme) have heard from them by now - but the support given wasn't all that helpful. After trying everything that was suggested and not having anything work, they were very quick to give me a credit and did not actually resolve the problem. I still cannot download the missing episodes after almost a month.

This leads me to believe that the file(s) are truly corrupt somewhere on Apple's side and that we will not be able to complete our downloads until the files are repaired. However, there is no way of knowing when the files will be fixed and available to download again, which is really frustrating, and Apple cannot provide this info either for some reason. I wish I had asked the support rep if she could try to download the episodes herself and tell me if they worked, but I didn't...

If this isn't the case, prehaps there are gremlins in my internet connection that do not want me to stay up all night watching the Sopranos for hours and hours...

I will remain patient and try again at some point... maybe I'll be able to watch season 6 in it's entirety before Xmas. Or, if someone from Apple does read this, maybe they can find it in their heart to tell me (and the rest of us) with Error -8008 what the deal is!

I'm also getting the Err=8008 repeatedly at the exact same spot in a TV episode. I spent hours following all the various advice I got from Apple sites and when googling this problem. (delete .tmp files, turn off anti-virus, turn off firewall, pause download, download from new IP address, etc)

I reported the problem to Apple. They send a canned response telling me to do all the things I had said in my original report that I had already done.

Next, I was given the option of calling for either a complimentary (sic) support or fee-based support.

I don't care about a refund, I just want the episode. I also resent wasting so much time on something Apple clearly doesn't have an answer for but which seems like a pretty pervasive problem.

Clearly "runaround" is a term no longer limited to Microsoft.
