problem with slider controls in settings

I'm on Firmware 2.2 and am having trouble with slider controls within settings like brightness and especially volume under Sounds > Ring. I have my finger dead on the slider and it often doesn't recognize or "grab" the control. It takes many tries before the slider is "grabbed". I found that it's easier to grab when the control is at its lowest level. I have no issues with the big sliders for instance when unlocking the phone... anyone have experience with this?

I have noticed a problem with sliders after the 2.2 update. For the Brightness setting, I liked that I could tap the small sun icon to the left of the slider to set Brightness to the lowest setting. Or to do the opposite, tap the large sun icon to set Brightness to the highest level. OR, tap anywhere on the slider bar to set it to that level. This option seems to be completely gone and I'm confused as to why they would remove such a feature.

I'm having the same problem. The small sliders in all apps I've looked at have become very erratic in their responsiveness with 2.2 Often on first starting an app a particular slider responds normally, but then the same slider no longer responds at all. Any other sliders on the same screen also are unresponsive. If I restart and try a different slider the first time, it works alright and then it and all other sliders stop working till I restart the app. In other cases it seems a slider never responds even on first starting an app or after restarting the iPod Touch.

I'm sure this is due to the 2.2 update. I first noticed it when I got a 2nd generation iPod Touch to use as a gift. I immediately updated to 2.2 before playing with it. When I found the slider problem I thought there might be a hardware problem with the new iPod. I tested the same sliders on my 1st gen iPod Touch and they worked fine. I then updated it to 2.2 and the sliders stopped working.

I hope Apple gets on this soon. I bought the new iPod as a Christmas gift for my young niece. She's going to be very frustrated if the problem isn't fixed.

Greetings,

The little slider is touchy, if you're dead on he center of it, but if I place my finger just to the left of the little button on the sliders, it works much better. It's hard for me to judge exactly as my fingers are bigger than most, I wear a size 16 ring.

But with a little practice, I can now generally get it to slide first try, most of the time, but not every time. I figure that this will be fixed at the next update, if more people will use the feedback. I have talked with others that I know, and we can all work with it Ok, but would prefer to have it not so touchy.

Cheers,
M.

I have had iPhone 16G less than a week...
no slider problems until I installed the 2.2 update a couple of days ago.
Just tonight noticed the Brightness slider very problematic... every once in a while I can hit
just the right spot.
Most Button sliders are now difficult.
The wider sliders: Unlocking, Answering Call, Powering Down all work fine.
Button sliders in Settings and most Game settings
are no longer functional without numerous tries.
I notice that it is easier to succeed in the "Increase" direction (i.e. toward the right)
than the "Decrease" direction (Left)

I'm glad I am not the only one and it is not my app. I just received the touch and one of the first apps I downloaded was an ebook reader and I'm having the same problem. It is particularly painful in the reader where the content is chuncked and a slider is used to move between chunks. I can spend a couple of minutes struggling with the slider before I can continue reading - very frustrating.
