Do I need a Mini Display Port to DVI or a Dual-Link DVI

I just ordered a Samsung 24 inch LCD display. If I want to connect my new MacBook Pro to it, do I need the Mini Display Port to DVI or do I need the Mini Display to Dual-Link DVI?

The Samsung model I ordered is the Samsung Touch of Color T240 24-inch LCD Monitor.

regular DVI should be fine for 1920x1200 pixel resolution

I have the Samsung Touch of Color T220HD. When I used the single link dvi cable that came with the monitor I had a number of problems (start iTunes and the samsung went snowy, run "detect displays" and the monitor would flicker...). I got a dual link dvi cable and all was well.

to clarify... I'm using the Mini DisplayPort to DVI adapter from Apple, and a dual link cable from Radio Shack.

thanks for your message, this is interesting. What does the dual like give you that the single link does not? How would it improve performance on a 24 inch or a 22 inch display?

Dual-link will do absolutely nothing for the 24" display you are considering. It is only useful for displays with a resolution higher than WUXGA or WDXGA, like a 30", or else displays that have color bit depth exceeding 8-bits per channel.
