Please don't hate as I have searched the site and I am still confused how to do this. I am sending my 8-bit sequence back to tape. I have 6 channels of audio and some is stereo, some is mono. How do I assure the tape has mixed audio on both channels? Right now the narrator and talent are on Channel 1 on some clips, sound effects on Channel 2, etc.
There are several ways to achieve the mixdown. After mastering all tracks, export the audio to aiff under the file menu. 48kHz, 16-bit, and change the config to stereo mix. Then re-import the file and create a new sequence with the new audio file. Good luck,
If you have your deck hooked up to some kind of interface card, the mix down will automatically be converted to stereo left and right (subject to correct sequence settings) So if you're happy with the mix across the 6 channels, they will go down to your deck as a pair, left and right or 1 + 2 however you want to call it.
Make sure you get your levels right on both the output and the input audio record level on the deck!
Tried that today but the audio playback from the meters in FCP is still not mixed, going to separate channels 1 and 2. Don't have the deck today but is a setting wrong somewhere?
