is it true that the ipod 20GB only hold 5,000 songs?

I was wondering if that it is true that if you don't put pictures on an ipod, does it hold more songs?

As far as I know, Luke, the quoted capacity for an iPod from Apple is for songs only. The quoted capacity is also based on the average 4 minute song imported in AAC @128kbps. If you import in an uncompressed format or larger bitrate, your iPod capacity will be smaller than what is quoted. Hope this helps.

A 20GB iPod will hold 18.5GB of data regardless of what that data contains. Therefore, if you put 5GB of photos on your iPod, you will only be able to put 13.5GB of music or other types of data on it without erasing the photos. There isn't a maximum number of songs that you can put onto the iPod apart from how many songs will fit into the available space on the iPod.
