I downloaded the QuickTime for Leopard 7.5.5 onto my MacBook Pro. Trying to do the install, I get the message "This package installs a version of QuickTime that is not intended for your computer." What gives! I'm on OSX 10.5.5 on the Intel platform. If this is not "Leopard", what the H... am I on???
MacBook Pro,
Mac OS X (10.5.5),
30" Samsung Monitor, 8 GIG RAM, 1TB secondary mirror
I am having the same problem. Tried removal, cleaning the caches, restarting and while I can download, I cannot install any version of Quicktime. May have to go back to my Time Capsule and restore all folders and files and try again. This didn't happen until the latest update of Quicktime. Any help?
Okay, so I was able to resolve! I peformed a Mac software update via the apple and it updated it all automatically. Itunes now works and plays the video files without the error message anymore.
I also ran a software update and downloaded 6 different updates including Quicktime 7. In any case, Quicktime is now installed and working properly. I have the Pro upgrade code and now just need to apply it.
As a new Apple user, I was confused by the terminology Tiger vs Leopard OS versions. Finally figured out that Leopard is the Intel version of the OS and Tiger is for non-intel machine.
I made the mistake of trying to install the Tiger version of Quicktime. I think this farkled something on my Macbook Pro before the installation finally failed with a message about inappropriate OS version. Somehow, its installation screwed up something else as I was able to install the very same Leopard version of QT on another Mac that I have. It was not a download file problem.
I accidently deleted the original quicktime software from my Macbook late 08. I downloaded the quicktime and i cant install it as i also get this message "This package installs a version of QuickTime that is not intended for your computer" . I've done all the updates for my mac since there is not updates available when i click on the software update. Please help..
