BMW x5 (E70) MY2009 bluetooth poor quality

Hello I have an Iphone 3g updated to 2.2 and when I place calls over my bluetooth in my brand new bmw x5 the quality of sound is really poor. It sounds good when called person speaks, but everyone tells me I sound really poor, far way. I was told by BMW it depends on the software version of Iphone.
Do you have any news or comments please? How can I solve it?

Thanks

Luca

I too have problems with my iPhone 3G.

Since I updated to the 2.2 software my calls in the car have been terrible with many callers complaining about the volume, or echoes, or both.

I have a Ford S-Max with the built in Ford bluetooth system that is made by Nokia.

Has anyone found a solution for this issue yet or is it worth raising with Apple?

Thanks

Same issue here (BMW X5, E70). I think the problem started with iPhone version 2.1 ... hard to tell. Before the sound quality was excellent via the original BMW bluetooth handfree set, now it is real bad: meaning the other party cannot here me (sounds very far away). - What I found out - and I found this strange - the volume level of the built in handfree set can be controlled by the volume control on the side of the iphone, not only over the volume control on the steering wheel. that means, that the sound level of the iphone and the sound level of the handfree set are coupled. Should not be that way! - In any case I have tried to set the volume on the iPhone to the hightest possible before making a call: So far this has produced better sound quality for the other party on the phone. I have only tried it two times so far, but it worked. (It is a temporary workaround; but not a good solution).

I have iPhone 3G paired with Ford S-Max's bluetooth system and everybody that I call say that the voice quality is really poor. They say that it sounds really metallic and has some sort of echo on it. Now I am forced to use my Nokia E90 as carphone and sound is fine.

There must by something real wrong with iPhone's bluetooth configuration as it seems to cause problems.

Ever since I updated the last two iphone software updates I have not been able to pair my phone with my car (2005 Lexus GX470 which has been paired since June '08)We have been test driving a 2009 BMW X5 and I could not pair that either. When I go into settings and turn Bluetooth ON the Wheel turns and NOTHING happens. The salesman also has an iphone and had not problem. Please help me as this is VERY FRUSTRATING!!!!!!

I have another issue with my 2009 X5 so be careful if you decide to restore or upgrade your firmware from 2.2 to 2.2.1.

My Iphone paired easily and worked great in my 2009 X5 with Firmware version 2.2 but after I upgraded to 2.2.1 a big bug appeared. Out going calls hang up after one ring i.e., no out going calls can be made. In coming calls work fine.

I thought it was the BMW so I ventured to my local dealer where they duplicated the problem using 2.2.1. Next they tried paired a 3G with Firmware version 2.2 and it worked perfectly.

So, I went to the Genius bar at my local Apple store and they said I’d have to wait for a new Firmware release. I asked if they would load my Iphone with 2.2 and they said the phone may no longer work if they do so. Sounds odd to me since it worked fine until I upgraded but they are the geniuses.
