Samsung Monitors

Odd Behavior with new Samsung. I just bought at Syncmaster T220. Its fantastic,beautiful and worked right out of the bos with my Mac Mini (old G4). I have it connected via DVI to DVI. The resolution is Resolution: 1680 x 1050 @ 60 Hz Depth: 32-bit Color. Everything works fine with one exception. If I look at an image (photo) and make it large, for example, if I zoom in in iPhoto and move the picture, or if I use Cover Flow view the monitor blinks off for a split second. Almost as if its having trouble displaying the picture. Then it comes back on and works fine for hours. I can repeat the problem over and over and when is top doing large picture related work, its fine. No issues. Is the Radeon 9200 choking?

Anyone have any ideas?

Right, as long as the monitor has a Plug-and-Display driver it should work with a Mac. And pretty much every monitor does. There are some companies that are notoriously poor about getting P&D drivers done correctly, but I won't name names.

To answer your question directly, every Samsung HD monitor I have encountered has worked, including the new one with an oddball resolution of 2048 x 1152. Even that one plugged and played going all the way back to my old Mac Cube!

Will the sound work on the monitor as well? I'm looking to get the T260HD LCD monitor and plug my Alum MacBook into it to watch movies, etc. And I would definitely like to be able to use the speakers on the monitor.

I'd be using a Mini DisplayPort to DVI cable.

Sound requires a seperate audio connection be made to the Mac's headphone output. That assumes the T260HD has a sound input port. I'm sure it must, but check before you purchase.

I need some help also.

I have a Powerbook G4 OSX 4.11 and I just got a 24" Samsung monitor with HDTV tuner and it IS supposed to be compatible with Macs, but the driver disc is only for windows...I don't know if I have all the right cables plugged in....I can't find any support anywhere and when I called Samsung, they told me (as usual) they "don't do Mac support".

I only plugged one DVI cable into a SVA adapter I got with my computer...what am I doing wrong?

I so want to watch things I download and use my Powerbook for a DVD player also...

Anyone there who can tell me what to plug in and if I am doing it correctly?

I have googled till I am blue in the face, lol.

I have a Samsung SyncMaster 2032mw and using DVi to DVI on a mac pro with ATI graphic card I am experiencing the same kind of issue. Using the vga conection, no poroblem at all. I red about HP flat pannels with the same kind of issue. It seems that the ensambling and welding of some parts of the monitor are not good enough.
I suspect because of what I red in other poosts that this is not a software driver problem so we can forget DVI conection with this kind of "cheap" monitors.

Samsung cheap?
Hmm. I paid about $399. for a 24 inch. (Sam's Club) It retails for about $500.
I finally got mine working.
But, I am using the T240HD monitor/TV. And I got a new Mac Mini to use with it. So far, everything is okay and I used the smaller cables, the VGA. However, twice the mini shut down for no reason and I had to unplug the power chord completely and plug it back in and now it has been staying on with no problems. If the problem continues, I imagine it's the monitor. I can't get the sound to work through the TV just using the Belkin cables porting out of the headphone jack, however. The guy at the apple store told me that would work, but it doesn't. I just use some other speakers to the Mac Mini.

I will come back and report if my new Mac Mini keeps crashing. It would then have to be an issue with the monitor, I am sure.

It's nice. I just wish they hadn't put that logo on the screen. It's ugly and takes away from the appearance.

My Samsung LCD monitor which I used it previously for my old Windows PC was used for connecting to my new macbook via its minidisplay port with a DVI cable. It started out fine but whenever my macbook goes to sleep, the monitor fails to get signal after I woke up my MacBook.

Does anyone experience what I am experiencing?

Will the latest firmware update for the mini-display port for VGA helps? (mine is the mini-display port for DVI).

If everything fails, I supposed I will have to purchase a new display...am considering if LCD TV or LCD monitor...any difference between these 2?

I love my TV/Monitor. simply because it serves two purposes. And I can watch movies and TV on it. (hulu.com, tv.com, abc.com, etc.)
I am not familiar with Windows operating systems much anymore, but I do know that when I got my Samsung, it came with a disc for drivers for a PC, but nothing for my MAC.
You may want to go to http://www.samsung.com to see if there are any driver updates for your model.

If there is compatibility issue for monitor, what about LCD TV?
It seems that both LCD TV and monitor are using the same method of connection, irregardless of whether windows or mac compatibility.

So far, I have not seen any LCD or flat screen tv with the Windows or Mac Compatibility logo or icon on the box/packaging.

The brand new MAC minis have NVIDIA processors. The newer LCD/TV monitors also are NVIDIA compatible. Always read the specs before you buy.
My Samsung had the MAC logo in the specs, although they don't give you any support for them. You can't call Samsung to ask for any tech support on their products.

It's funny, but I am using the VGA cables.....am having no problems. I think perhaps it's a cable problem????
