Can I buy & send a song to another person's iphone?

My friend has a new iphone. I'd like to buy a song and send it directly to his iPhone. Is that possible? Or do I have to gift it to his email account - making him do the rest of the work.

send it to them via email from your computer and make them do the work on their computer
