Wireless Streaming Music

I recently bought an AppleTV and I use it to store music and also to stream music from iTunes. However, whenever I stream music my wireless network crashes and I have to restart my Netgear router. Has anyone else had this problem? I am guessing this a router issue (not ApplTV) and wanted to confirm that. Also, I plan to upgrade to a stronger router - do non-Apple routers work well with AppleTV? Any recommended routers?
