MacBook Pro screen blinks

My new MacBook Pro display screen is blinking or flickering every few minutes now. I've only noticed it when I've switched to the integrated 9400M graphics processor. I don't recall seeing any blinks when using the discrete 9600M GPU. Usually it is only the top half or so of the display that blinks or flickers for a split second. Anyone else having the same problem?

MacBook Pro (Late 2008), Mac OS X (10.5.5), tv, iPhone, iPod Touch, et al

ok thats not to bad anyway.. i read somewhere you can go to an apple shop and they would strengthen it for you.. so it is fixable. i dont find it very annoying, just when i put a speck see thru case on it, the lid obviously became heavier, and the effect is very much increased, display feels very unstable like this.. but ok, not too bad anyway, as long as all the rest is as you would expect it.. 🙂

Thanks for the infos kongnator

As soon i have more time, i will go to the Apple center and ask for strengthen a little bit. But in France you know, Apple center is not Apple center, it is Apple Premium Reseller ...

These expensive Pro machines are not perfect anyway and it is sad.

Apple had us accustomed to a professional range or quality control was more severe.

Do not tell me it is because they are revisions A.

The result is that I no longer trust Apple in the same way, and I would ensure that this knowledge.

i totally agree.. but fact is i need a mac cos my audio software only exists on mac. maybe apple is forcing us now and dont care about happy customer anymore.
same as they forced the consumer level user to buy a PRO because they removed firewire from their macbooks..

i am sad too that the pro model has not really shown any pro side to me till now.. the only thing i noticed and happy with was the speed, but hey for almost 2000 euros you can even get a lot more speed than that..

anyways, let us know how your experiences go with your latest unit, hotplug. i might just get my money back and buy a whitebook.. wouldnt want to spend any more money on apple than absolutely necessary..

so much time i lost, if i couldve worked in all that time i couldve bought 2 more machines anyway..

I agree with you too kongnator

That one hour that I have tested the 4 points on 00009C85 contrast, it does not twinkle, pulse, flicker or anything still scary.

It is definitely less contrast and much better. More hot but not yellow.

So it would be a problem hardware then finally ...

The fans are working properly and are inaudible to 2000 laps.
Furthermore SMC fan control drive them perfectly when needed.

The hard disk is a Hitachi HTS543232L9SA02. It is extremely quiet.

The keyboard is actually more comfortable, certainly, I had a particularly well assembled.

The date off this mac (can I still call it a Mac?) on the carton was:
13 march 2009

I will keep you informed ...

apple support called, they agree to give me back my money.. i told them i dont necessarily want my money back, i want a WORKING MACHINE..

they cant guarantee, now they have to figure smtg out, talk to supervisor etc. they wont admit the problem i had.. they say like i am the only one experiencing this problem. can you believe that?

when i told them that the 2.66 model might have the problem solved and that i want one of these, they said i would need to send it back, then wait a week, get my money and order a new one.. i thought they must be kidding.. i got angry.

so now the support guy is sorting things out with the supervisor and see what he can do.. unbelieveble, 2 months lost and they still want to make you wait more weeks and weeks..

my patience is starting to fade..

hey kongnator

i ordered my first macbookpro at 4th of november. till now i had 5 machines (3 with flickering, 2 with bright areas at the bottom of the display from the LEDs) with the first order, then a complete.send.back with apple giving me back my money and a new 2nd order. for the whole thing of sending back 5 machines they gave me a lousy 50bucks refund. Im trying to get a working machine for 5 month!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

i now have a 2,66 with the 84 panel (the 1st machine of the 2nd order) and it still flickers (not much, but enough to irritate my eyes and my head!) on battery.mode at 2-5 brightness.

i already lost my confidence in apples quality!!!

today is the last day of my 14.days to call for a other laptop and i don´t know what i should do!!! im so pi&%ed of of this whole machine, but on the other hand i need it for my work!

???

i totally agree with you volvr

i have the same problem, i need it for my work.

apple care just called me and theyre gonna do a compete send back after 4 machines now. i have to send it back, get my money back and order a new one. i will need to pay the upprice for the 2.66, however i get refunded 120$.

i give them one last shot.. that is the MBP. if i have a flicker, led leak at the bottom or anything of this sort i will just be totally fed up and get my money back for good..

will just get a whitebook then..

volvr, when was your 2.66 produced?
