My new MacBook Pro display screen is blinking or flickering every few minutes now. I've only noticed it when I've switched to the integrated 9400M graphics processor. I don't recall seeing any blinks when using the discrete 9600M GPU. Usually it is only the top half or so of the display that blinks or flickers for a split second. Anyone else having the same problem?
MacBook Pro (Late 2008),
Mac OS X (10.5.5),

So, does apple replace it or do I need to buy a new machine myself? Because I'm still under applecare on this MBP, and I really don't have any money to buy a whole new machine......
well it's not quite that easy... how many repairs has it had? how many times has it gone in for this issue? a replacement is a new machine, free of charge. your old one is sent back to apple for good.
Considering I can't have it away from me for long because of school reasons, I have only sent it in once.... I just need something that doesn't flicker all the **** time! It's been flickering for the past couple of days, and its driving me nuts. It only had one repair, and that was for replacing the CD-DVD reader/burner. I just can't have it away for longer then a day because of school assignments, and I have no back up computer to fall back on when this one goes in for repairs
demand to get it replaced that is a lot of money. ****, my 3 wk old mbp17" now needs a logic board because the one that was installed in china was sheet. almost 3 grand laptop with ******* issues in under a month. that is bull sheeeeeeeeeeT!
The main thing I had it in for was the screen flicker. He said he sat and watched a video on my screen for 5 hours, but no flicker. Then he ran something on my CD DVD reader, said it was crap and replaced it. Pretty much it, because there is nothing else wrong with my computer. And the only disk I have for this laptop is the Snow Leopard disk.
I would demand so, but apparently Apple is stubborn as **** with handing out replacements, since it does cost them money. And really? I've had my 15" MBP for over a year, and my issues have just cropped up in the past 6 months.
yes, the apple service providers have a much better diagnostic tool to scan for issues. AHT is just there to give the customer an idea at home, if there's something going on. there's not much apple can do for you if you aren't willing to take it in for repair. at least then if it crops up again - & odds are it will, you would have a much better case getting it replaced. doesn't the apple store / genius bars offer loan machines?
if they can have it fixed within 14 days, could always buy a new one to get you thru & then return it, but that's kinda mean imo... but maybe an option.
I took it to a mac outfitters, but I am thinking of finding an actual apple store and asking them about it. I just don't want to have my screen completely go out on me, I kinda need it hahaaa....
there must have been issues on getting them fixed because apple usually has these sent in for repair now. when I called they wanted me to send mine in & not to go back to the local guy. everytime he orders the logic in, takes 2-3 tries to find one that works! so then it's back & forth for a week just trying to get a board that works. they now even request the service providers to send them in.
The guy I talked to was running just some diagnostics, but he said that if he couldn't repair it then it would have to be sent into apple. He told me other than my CD DVD drive, everything was fine, nothing wrong with my screen or anything. He said he couldn't replicate the flickering that I was complaining about.
