Q: MacBook Pro screen blinks

My new MacBook Pro display screen is blinking or flickering every few minutes now. I've only noticed it when I've switched to the integrated 9400M graphics processor. I don't recall seeing any blinks when using the discrete 9600M GPU. Usually it is only the top half or so of the display that blinks or flickers for a split second. Anyone else having the same problem?

MacBook Pro (Late 2008), Mac OS X (10.5.5), tv, iPhone, iPod Touch, et al

    yea W8 (Shangai)

I had start from my HD clone

I'm cloning from the clone right now
It will take around one hour

I will check the flikering in the evening and will tell u the result (Paris France here it is 3 PM)

The display seems really different in color. And the brightness less agressive ...

I will have to calibrate again

I hope all fine because off the waste off time

    Apple Wake up !

hoplug, while you checking your display, can you also check if you have the stagelight / led leakage on the bottom of the screen please? you can see it best when watching a movie on high brightness or have a totally black picture..

    thanks a lot!

great.. good luck with the set up!

led leak / stagelight effect is what has been quite common on 9c85 screens. but maybe they fixed it.

you can see the effect on the bottom of the screen

Hmm - gets more and more curious.

Mine is definitely fine with the LED display... in my case, it just seems to affect the laptop's display and not the LED. Still, hopefully the new one will correct this.

    OK guys !

Set up ok with the new one (After 5 exchanges)

Look like the things are ok.
    - Silent hard drive (i'm lucky i know)
    - Audio in and out OK (I had problem on the 2.55)
    - No dead pixel (at this time)
    - 9C85 Display (LG ? Philips ?)
    - A small box hanging on the left, nothing bad, (but frankly unacceptable)

The screen is much less violent in terms of contrast, it is a good point, it is warmer, and the calibration of 84 is no longer appropriate, so I'm good for quite some time to calibrate again. (Gama 2)

I saw this tonight practically in the room illuminated indirectly and sieved.

When the contrast down point to point, it darkens much faster than 84.

I put myself in a dark room and I watched the arrival of the flicker, but it seems ok on both cards. A follow anyway, because trust is now well underway on Apple machines.

I have no stagelight effect. I cross fingers for the rest.

It is frankly a shame that this problem of flickering have been held with the C84 because I sincerely believe they are better than the C85.

I keep it 15 days, and if any fault occurs during this period, return to sender.

Looking forward to your impressions of your new machines.
