I have a HUGE library of Ogg Vorbis files I want to play on my iPod Classic
The title pretty much says it all, I have this huge library of Ogg Vorbis files I want to listen to, but for some really(!) strange reason there is no Ogg Vorbis support for the iPod? Why? It is a free file format (as in no patents) and offers better sound quality pr. mb. Please, help me get my iPod playing my Ogg Vorbis files!!
*BTW, Is it possible to get in touch with Apple on a vorbis codec for the iPod*
You can send feedback/feature requests directly to Apple at this link. However even if compatibility with additional formats was to be considered it wouldn't happen overnight which still leaves you having to find another solution (basically as already mentioned above, that means converting existing files to an iPod compatible format or re-ripping whatever you can in a compatible format). If compatibility was to be to be extended to other formats it's likely that would be introduced to future versions of the iPod, changes tend not to be retroactive:

I REALLY don't want to convert them to mp3, or any other lossy format for that matter since vorbis has a different compression method than mp3, so going from vorbis, which is compressed one way, to mp3 which is compressed another way I'm going to noticeably decrease the quality of the music 😟
BTW, Is it possible to get in touch with Apple on a vorbis codec for the iPod? Surely it should be no problem since vorbis does not have any patents and is free to use in any way you'd like..
