Safari as unsupported browser for mobileme

Has anyone found out why mobileme still claims that safari (running 3.2.1 currently) is an unsupported browser?

this problem has persisted since mobileme began. the mobileme support site has no mention of this and i know many people are still having this problem.

I'm using Safari 3.2.1 and I'm not seeing this problem. Is there anything in particular that I need to do on the me.com web site to see the issue you're seeing? Is there an error message saying your browser isn't supported, or is it just that some functionality isn't working as it should? Can you provide more detail?

I logged into my account at http://www.me.com , visited all of the major areas, and visited all of my account settings as well. Everything seemed to work as it should ...

when i go to mobileme.com i get a page that says i have an unsupported browser and that i should download safari.

i've gotten this message since mobileme began no matter what version of safari i've had. i do not use any extras that enhance safari and i have reset and cleared cache to no avail.

i can log in to mobileme with the latest firefox, go figure.

Is there any chance you are using Safari's Develop menu to make web sites think Safari is another browser (or you have done so in the past)? If you don't have the Develop menu enabled now, go to Safari > Preferences > Advanced and check the box at the bottom that says, "Show Develop menu in menu bar."

Then go to Develop > User Agent and look in that menu. Is there a checkmark next to any web browser in the menu?

One last question about user agent. It always reverts to Mozilla when Safari opens and does not have Safari 3.2.1. Can i permanently set this to Safari 3.1, which is the latest safari version listed in the menu?

this is what it reverts to:
Mozilla/5.0 (Macintosh; U; PPC Mac OS X Mach-O; en-US; rv:1.7.12) Gecko/20050915 Firefox/1.0.7

Normally it reverts to the setting "Default (Automatically Chosen." If it's doing something different for you, I'd suspect one of two things: (1) You have used some other program to force this setting, in which case you could use that program to revert to the default, or (2) You have a corrupted preference file somewhere that is causing this to happen.

If it's the latter, I'm not sure what file that would be ...

Have you tried simply changing it to that top setting in the list, "Default (Automatically Chosen"? That's the normal setting and will cause Safari to report itself to web sites as its true version.
