You would have to take the computer to an Apple service center. We can't tell you whether it would be covered under the warranty. If you caused the damage, then it isn't covered.

You are not alone. This has been a common problem with this machine which lead to Apple abandoning this case design in favor of the aluminum design. You will need an extended warranty to get it fixed - but it will happen again with time (usually about six to eight months) - so keep your warranty active as long as possible.

This is definitely an issue. I had my top case fixed once about 10 months ago and its time for it to go in again. If it happens again before my apple care runs out maybe I'll get lucky and they'll send me the aluminum model.

Anyone know if doing upgrades to your mac will create any problems with applecare?

how long did it take for them to fix it? I have to go back to school in a week and there's not a store there, but there is one here at home.

I had this problem also. When I was in the Store asking about my battery they offered to repair it free of charge. It was done in a couple of hours and they also replaced the keyboard and trackpad too! Cue, one very happy customer!

they fixed it today in less than a half hour and replaced the keyboard as well, free of charge.
