Itunes Library is not locating music

Hello. I have my music on an external hard drive and Itunes no longer recognizes where any of my music is. My entire library does not play. I have went to the preferences tab and made sure Itunes still has my external hard drive chosen to store the itunes music file. I am not sure if I have to delete my entire library and re upload it again? Or is there a button i can push that will refresh the library and make it realize where the music is being stored? Any information is appreciated. Thank you!

My itunes was working fine. I kept my EX HD plugged in and i connected a second one to my comp to copy some music over. All of a sudden my Itunes stopped recognizing my current music folders. I have changed the folder back to my itunes music folder and still the library will not update or located where my music is. It asks me to locate each song individually. I am not sure what the heck is going on. I have restarted the comp, left everything plugged in and opened itunes again and still same problem.

try this it worked for me. this problem was making my head want to burst. when you do these instructions at the link below, don't forget to go to the itunes preference and then advance tabs and change the folder location...this is the advice i got from a response to my post...

This is your root problem. Use Windows Device Manager to *permanently* assign the drive letter for both exHD.
