Safari changes url to local IP

When away from home I can reach my server via a xyz.dnsalias.net dynamic address. For sometimes now Safari on my iPhone 3g "translates" this into a 192.168.x.y address that is the local IP of my server, which I sometimes connect to locally with my iPhone via wifi. As a result I can no longer access this site from my iPhone when on 3G or edge or wifi spot away from home.
How can this be fixed ?

Thanks

Find your real public IP and use that instead to setup with.
Note odds are you also have to adjust your router to allow port forwarding to the private IP for connections on the port used by the server.
