Vocal is very nasal - which frequenzy to adjust?

Searched the web. Nothing found. Does it change from singer to singer, or is there a specific range?

Thanks Martin

Hi,

I don't think there is a 'Noseopener effect' available. What you could try is insert a Channel Eq, activate one frequency, set it to something like +20dB (keep it narrowish) and move it along the freq range until it hits a point where it get extra nasty, and then pull that point down to minus anything dB. But I don't think you'll be able to reduce nasality very much, as it is in fact a missing resonance.
You could also try paying with the formants in Melodyne (if you have it) but I think it will be hard/impossible to make it sound natural.

regards, Erik.

This is what I would suggest also. Slowly scroll up and down the frequency spectrum with a significant (fairly) narrow boost, and you'll definitely hear the nasal quality become exaggerated at some point. Then dip that same frequency. You may find you need 2 or 3 narrow cuts above 1k to tame it, but be careful you don't kill it either.

Logic's channel EQ analyzer can be helpful here as well. Make sure it's set "Pre-EQ". By turning that on, you may be able to see several places across the frequency spectrum that have unusually high activity (compared to other frequencies). This will aid you in knowing where to look.
