QuickTime Pro exports videos with only AAC-LC audio?

Hi, i'm having a major problem right now. In the past, i was able to export mp4 (mpeg-4) video files from QuickTime Pro with the audio encoding to choose from: aiff, mp3, etc.

Now they only give me one option which is AAC-LC. What is going on? It's especially frustrating when my phone doesn't play that audio codec for mp4 files.

I can't seem to export from VLC either. In fact when i tried exporting from VLC, the exported mp4 file doesn't even open in quicktime. It says it's an invalid file but i'm able to open on VLC.

I tried using my Mpeg-stream clip software to export into mp4 with mp3 audio codec but it also gave me only one option which was the mpeg-4 AAC, and again, my cellphone does not play video files with that audio codec.

Perian is render useless as well.

My media file preferences under the quicktime is checked all. Including the mp3 format. But i just don't understand why it doesn't allow me to select any audio codec under that AAC-LC to export.

Is there anyone who can help me with this? It's extremely frustrating and i really appreciate any help possible. Thanks!

MacBook Pro, Mac OS X (10.4.11), 2.16GHZ intel Core 2 Duo, 3GB 667 MHz RAM.

Erm i was able to export .mp4 before either in mpeg-4 basic, improved and with the audio as .aiff or mp3 but now it just only gives me one option for the audio which is AAC-LC.

The same thing happened when i used the software MPEG Stream Clip to export. In the past i was able to choose mp3 or mpeg-4 audio. Now it only allows me to choose AAC-LC as well.

Is it a problem with my codec packs or something?

Not on a Mac without AAC as the primary audio.

No, the codecs are fine. It is the MP4 file container that won't accept the MP3 as your primary audio track. You can use MPEG-4 or H.264 with MP3 in an MOV file container. Or you can mix DivX MPEG4/H.264 video with MP3 in an AVI container (probably one of the most common AVI combination today) or put it in a DivX container but you can't put it in either an MP4 or M4V file container using a standard QT-based application accessing the embedded QT structure. This includes applications like iMovie, Final Cut, GarageBand, QT Pro, MPEG Streamclip, etc.

I tried using my Mpeg-stream clip software to export into mp4 with mp3 audio codec but it also gave me only one option which was the mpeg-4 AAC, and again, my cellphone does not play video files with that audio codec.
Are you sure you weren't using the .3G file container which does allow other forms of audio for cellphones?

Erm i think you're not understanding my statements. I said i exported my video file in mp4 format with mp3 as the primary audio in Quick Time Pro on my Macbook Pro previously. Until recently, it starts to be funky and only allows AAC-LC as the primary audio.

My phone is the LG Shine KE970> http://www.lge.com/products/model/detail/ke970.jhtml

i don't quite understand this statement. I only do know that my phone does not accept AAC as the audio and therefore it would not open the file. It will say it's not a supported media.
