HD Movies Wheres my 5.1 DD

No, since software 2.0 it supports 5.1 AC-3 too.

How are you connected to receiver? - check receiver and AppleTv audio settings too.

The picture is spectacular but very very disappointed with the audio. How can I get these movies to output DD 5.1??

Have you set your ATV to output Dolby Digital? (Settings - Audio & Video)

He meant his receiver is capable of detecting a 5.1 signal but it is not showing up on the receiver as DD 5.1.

I wonder if one has to use optical out to get DD? maybe he is using regular red/white cables

of course you need to use the optical... DD5.1 is not carried via the red/white analogue outputs.

Watched an HD trailer last night that had 5.1. Can't remember which one it was but I was glad to hear it. I am looking forward to finding rentals with 5.1

I've had my Apple TV for about 5 months and even though it is connected to my 5.1 audio surround sound system, the only 5.1 audio I have heard was during the Apple TV setup.

Transporter is not available in DD 5.1. Transported 2 is.

Paul not all movies are are a available in DD 5.1. Absolutely no standard def are available in DD 5.1 only some Hd titles. You need to look at the movie detail for the double "D"'s to determine this. If you go to transporter, no DD...go to transporter 2 it has a DD.

Have you actually confirmed the you have played a DD 5.1 movie ? Not all movies in iTunes are DD. No SD movies are 5.1 and only some HD. More and more are now. You need to look in the movie details. If it doesn't have the DD symbol it is not 5.1... If it's SD it is not 5.1.

No, since I have not rented any movies via download to my Apple TV, I cannot confirm that. However, I have downloaded and tested with some HD movie trailers. I will look more closely for the DD symbol when I try again.

As far as I know HD movie trailers don't have 5.1 either. At least I have never run accoss one that does.
