auto start minimized...

auto start minimized...

switching from pc to mac...

To use win terminology, is there a way at strat up to have a program start minimized? I see how to automatically start a program, such as skype, but it displays as a window and you can manually click - to minimize. I would rather it just start minimzed.

Not all programs are minimizable on start.
If you have the program or app listed as one of your login items, there is a checkbox to start minimized, but some apps (mail, I think, is one) disregard it.

Where is this start minimized check box?

With an icon in the doc, I right click and check Open At Login. Is there another way to do this that gives you the start minimized check box?

The checkbox is in the Login Items list which, IIRC lives in Sys Prefs >> Accounts. As mentioned, some apps ignore it, and it's a *Start Hidden*, not minimized.
